Hunting and Fishing Licenses and StampsFor information about other licenses and services, see the License Bureau home page Minnesota Statute 97A requires that any person, unless exempt, must purchase a license to hunt and fish in Minnesota. Hunting and fishing certain species or in certain areas may also require the purchase of a stamp. How To ObtainHunting and fishing licenses and stamps can be purchased, in person, at any Anoka County License Center. Most hunting and fishing licenses and stamps go on sale in mid-February. Small game and fishing licenses are valid from March 1 through February 28 the following year. Big game licenses go on sale in mid-August. The firearms deer season begins in early November. Duplicate licenses must be purchased from a special agent. Go to the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources Web site for a list of special agents and locations. Required FormsNone Required IdentificationTo purchase a resident license, you must provide proof of Minnesota residency (a Minnesota driver's license or identification card) or a Firearm Safety Certificate. Non-residents must provide a driver's license or state identification card from their state of residence. Required FeesVaries by type of license or stamp purchased.
