Transient Merchant License

Minnesota Statute 329.099 requires that any out-of-state business coming into Anoka County to sell goods or services must purchase a Transient Merchant License.

The license is valid for one year, only at the place indicated on the original application.

How To Obtain

Fill out the Transient Merchant License application form and the Certification of Compliance form.
The application form must also be signed by a Notary Public, a service available at the Government Center Vital Statistics office or any other Anoka County License Center.
Then, either:
- Submit the form in person, with surety bond and required fee, at the Government Center Vital Statistics office, or
- Mail the form, with surety bond and required fee, to:
  
  Anoka County Government Center
  Vital Statistics
  325 East Main Street, W120
  Anoka, MN 55303
- This license cannot be obtained at Anoka County License Centers.

Required Identification

Notarization requires a Driver's License or State Identification Card.

Required Fees

A surety bond is required in the amount of $1,000.00, designating Anoka County on the line that reads "bound onto _______."

The license fee is $150.00

The Government Center Vital Statistics office can accept payment by cash, check or credit card (Mastercard and VISA).
