The story of George Bailey in “It’s A Wonderful
Life” has been a holiday tradition since 1946, when actor James
Stewart brought Bailey’s blessings into focus with the help of a
guardian angel. Free2B! hopes it has many guardian angels within the
community as it prepares to host its Fifth Annual Free2B! Fundraiser
this year featuring “It’s A Wonderful Life” at the Lyric Arts Main
Street Stage.
Anoka County Commissioner Dennis Berg is the
Free2B! fundraiser’s honorary chair this year. Berg says “Last year,
nearly 200 people in Anoka County benefitted from the services
provided by Free2B! Free2B! does so much more than repair and
provide vehicles. In many ways, Free2B! provides a repair of the
heart, just like George Bailey’s guardian angel did for him.”
The mission of Free2B! is providing car care to
enable independence. Free2B! is an IRS designated 501c3 non-profit
organization that accepts donated cars, repairs them, and then
donates them to eligible Anoka County residents. Free2B! is located
in the Anoka County Human Service Center in Blaine.
The Fifth Annual Free2B! Fundraiser is November
15, 2007, at the Lyric Arts Main Street Stage in Anoka. Tickets are
$35 per person. For more information, to purchase tickets, or donate
a silent auction item, call Free2B! at 763-717-7755. The goal of
this year’s event is to raise awareness and $10,000 from ticket
sales and silent auction item sales.
