At its next regularly scheduled board meeting of March 25, 2008,
the Anoka County Board of Commissioners is expected to discuss and
consider for adoption two resolutions in respect to the creation of
a Metropolitan Transportation Area.
The first resolution declares Anoka County’s
intent to be part of the Metropolitan Transportation Area and
authorization to enter into a Joint Powers Agreement establishing a
Counties Transit Improvement Board.
In conjunction, a second resolution adopts a
sales and use tax for Anoka County. The amount of the proposed
sales tax increase for the seven-county metro area, as established
by the Laws of Minnesota 2008 Chapter 152, Article 4, Section 2,
codified as Minnesota Statute 297A.992, is one-quarter percent
(.0025) sales and use tax, and an excise tax of $20 per motor
vehicle purchased or acquired from any person engaged in the
business of selling motor vehicles at retail.
The Anoka County Board of Commissioners meets at
9:30 a.m. in Room 705 of the Anoka County Government Center.
