Fairgoers at the Anoka County Fair, July 22-27, won’t want to
miss a new attraction at the Mental Wellness Campaign for Anoka
County booth in building number two. One of the Campaign’s partners,
Riverwind Crisis Services, is giving away stylish canvas backpacks.
“The backpack is the perfect way to conveniently tote the
numerous goodies you pick up at the fair,” said D.J. Moser, chair of
the Mental Wellness Campaign for Anoka County. “When you get home,
reuse the bag for work, school or play.”
Bags are free. Quantities are limited. Also available will be
complimentary ice cold water in specially printed bottles.
While at the booth, visitors can pick up information on numerous
mental health issues and community resources. Materials come
from community service providers and Anoka County Human Services.
Information revolves around the Campaign’s motto, mental health is
as important as physical health.
The Campaign is a nonprofit group composed of consumers, family
members, service providers, and community leaders dedicated to
promoting increased public awareness, understanding and acceptance
of mental health care.
“Our research shows one in three adults in Anoka County don’t
know how to access mental health services for themselves and one in
four doesn’t know how to access services for their kids,” said
Moser. “We want to change that because when people access needed
services, everyone benefits.”
