Anoka County Commissioner Robyn West has been
appointed by Governor Tim Pawlenty to serve on the new High-Speed
Broadband Task Force.
“I’m honored to be appointed to this important
task force,” said Commissioner West. “The impact of the Internet on
our daily lives cannot be overstated. I look forward to being part
of a diverse group investigating the implications of deploying
high-speed alternatives to areas of the state with and without
broadband. The study and development of a high-speed broadband
standard for the state that reflects the task force’s diverse
interests is an important first step toward balancing the needs of
all Minnesotans.”
West of Blaine represents District 3 on the Anoka
County Board of Commissioners. As an appointee to the High-Speed
Broadband Task Force, West will serve as a representative of
metropolitan area Minnesota counties.
The High-Speed Broadband Task Force was created by the 2008
Minnesota Legislature to make recommendations to the Governor and
the Legislature regarding the creation of a state high-speed
broadband goal and a plan to achieve it. The task force consists of
26 members, including 20 appointed by the Governor.
