Family Child Care Licensing

Mission Statement:  Working together to protect families in licensed child care.

The Anoka County Family Child Care Licensing Unit, as an agent of the State of Minnesota Department of Human Services, is responsible to license and monitor family child care providers within the county according to MN Rules parts 9502.0300-9502.0445 (Rule 2) and MN statutes 245A and 245C.   Licensed family child care providers in Anoka County serve an estimated 10,000 children.

Child Care Centers in Minnesota are licensed through the Department of Human Services  Licensing Division, 651-296-3971.

What's New? -Important Background Study Changes

The Anoka County Board of Commissioners has authorized a fee increase for the required background study checks for family child care providers and applicants. The new fee of $100 will go into effect for all providers whose license expires after August 31, 2011 and new applicants effective September 1, 2011.

Background studies should be conducted as soon as an individual turns 13 years of age. Read more.

Anoka County Supervision Training

  • This is a two hour training for Anoka County child care providers which is held quarterly. Effective July 1, 2011, there will be a $15.00 fee for the two hour Supervision Training.
