Recycling Opportunities
Each Anoka County municipality is responsible for its own recycling
program with all offering curbside collection. The table below provides
recycling opportunities for each municipality. Included are drop-off
center recycling options, spring and/or fall recycling events and
contact information for municipal recycling coordinators as well
as how your recyclables should be prepared for collection recycling

any Anoka County resident.
A number of municipalities in Anoka County also host seasonal
or monthly recycling drop-off days for special materials, such as
appliances, clothing, electronics, fluorescent lights, household
goods, etc. Call your city or township for specific information.

Services, (763) 422-7063, for a list of licensed garbage hauling

Resource Recovery
The Anoka County Integrated Waste Management system includes
resource recovery. Waste that cannot be recycled is made into
fuel to generate electricity. Ask your hauler where your waste
goes.
The majority of municipal solid waste (MSW) generated in Anoka
County is processed into refuse derived fuel (RDF) at the Elk River
Resource Recovery Facility. RDF is burned at power plants to generate
enough electricity to supply about 30,000 homes per day.
For more information about resource recovery call Anoka County
Integrated Waste Management at (763) 323-5730 or send an e-mail
recycle@co.anoka.mn.us
Landfills
There are no municipal solid waste (MSW) landfills currently
operating in Anoka County. However, there are two transfer stations
which will transfer your waste.
The Minnesota Pollution Control Agency is actively involved in
regulating Minnesota's landfills. In addition to permitting landfills,
MPCA has programs for cleaning up and closing Minnesota landfills.
Visit their web site for information about the
Landfill Cleanup Program.
